Tom Flegler aims for NRL comeback after surgery
Dolphins player Tom Flegler is hopeful about returning to the NRL after undergoing a risky nerve-transfer surgery last year. The surgery was seen as a last chance to save his career following a serious shoulder injury sustained in Round 5. Flegler had initially thought his injury was a minor issue, but it was later revealed to be nerve damage. He has not played since the injury and there is uncertainty about when he will be able to return, as healing from nerve damage can be slow and complicated. Despite these challenges, Flegler remains optimistic. He mentioned on a podcast that he could return this year but is taking it one month at a time. He expressed confidence that he would eventually play again, even as he acknowledges the worries that come with such injuries. Flegler described the nerve-transfer surgery as a last resort after other methods failed. He is beginning to feel some strength in his shoulder and has noticed small improvements. He is eager to get back on the field and hopes to join his team soon.
