Tom Homan criticizes Cuomo's support for sanctuary laws
Tom Homan, President Trump's border czar, stated that Andrew Cuomo should not be involved in New York politics if he continues to support sanctuary city laws. Homan criticized Cuomo's past policies, including the Green Light Law allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses. Homan joined New York Republicans in their efforts to repeal the Green Light Law and promote the Laken Riley Act, which aims to end sanctuary policies. GOP lawmakers highlighted concerns about Cuomo's previous actions and their impact on local law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities. Cuomo's spokesman defended the Green Light Law, noting that many states have similar laws. He emphasized that immigrants with criminal convictions are still subject to enforcement by immigration authorities.
