A man from Toms River, New Jersey, has been sentenced for a shooting that took place in 2024. Anthony Brown, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon earlier this year. On June 12, 2024, Brown fired two shots at a vehicle and hit a man before running away. The police received a report about a gunshot wound and found that the victim was the same man Brown had shot. He was treated for his injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and was later released. On Friday, Brown was sentenced to four years in prison for aggravated assault and five years for the weapon charge, with a part of the sentence requiring him to serve 42 months before being eligible for parole. Both sentences will be served at the same time. Brown was arrested shortly after the shooting and was taken to Ocean County Jail.
