TomTom incurs $50,000 loss from West Hollywood renovations
The bar TomTom, featured in Vanderpump Rules, has faced substantial financial losses. Owners Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz had to spend about $50,000 on renovations due to new city regulations in West Hollywood. Recently, city officials ordered local businesses to reduce their outdoor seating. This change aimed to increase sidewalk space in busy areas. While other bars and restaurants made adjustments weeks ago, TomTom complied only in March 2025. The bar’s large outdoor patio was cut down to a few small tables, disappointing both staff and customers. A staff member expressed the challenges of reducing outdoor space. He mentioned that it would mean fewer seats and less income. However, he also noted that business had been steady and even improved recently, a relief after a tough period following the Scandoval scandal. Tom and Tom had previously invested heavily in another bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s, which ultimately failed after just two years. The closure not only impacted their finances but also contributed to Schwartz's divorce. An insider explained that Schwartz put significant effort into that venture, often working late and trying to attract customers. Despite the hurdles, TomTom continues to operate since its opening in 2018, although the Toms only own a small portion of the business. Lisa Vanderpump, who initially partnered with them, retains the majority stake. As they navigate these challenges, both owners are working to adapt to new circumstances.
