Top players struggle in 2025 IPL mega auction as bids fall flat in Jeddah

The 2025 IPL mega auction in Jeddah saw several high-profile players, including Glenn Maxwell, Sam Curran, and Faf du Plessis, receive bids close to their base prices. This marked a significant drop in interest compared to previous years. Maxwell was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 4.2 crore, while Curran joined Chennai Super Kings for Rs 2.4 crore. Both players had previously commanded much higher prices in the auction. Other notable players like Mitch Marsh and Adam Zampa also fetched modest bids, raising concerns about their market value. The auction's first day had already seen teams spend Rs 467 crore on 72 players.
