Tornado watch issued for Cumberland County, North Carolina

A tornado watch is in effect for Cumberland County and ten other counties in Central North Carolina as a severe storm system moves through the region. The watch is set to last until 2 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service warns of strong thunderstorms and possible tornadoes, particularly from a storm cluster approaching from South Carolina. The system is expected to bring windy conditions through the weekend. Severe weather has already caused at least 30 deaths across several states, including Kansas and Texas, due to tornadoes and high winds. More than 40 tornadoes were reported in eight states over the past few days.
