Tornadoes in southern U.S. cause two deaths and six injuries as severe storms move east

Severe storms in the southern U.S. have caused at least two deaths and injured six people as they move eastward. Tornadoes touched down in Texas and Mississippi, with reports of around 40 tornadoes from Texas to Alabama. The storms are expected to produce damaging winds, hail, and additional tornadoes through Sunday. Damage assessments are ongoing, with reports of destroyed mobile homes and significant property damage in affected areas. Power outages have affected nearly 65,000 customers in Mississippi and thousands more in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas. Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect across parts of the Deep South.
