Torvill and Dean reflect on teenage kiss and friendship

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have shared details about their first kiss, revealing more about their long-lasting friendship after leaving ITV's Dancing on Ice. The famous ice-skating duo opened up about a teenage romance that never turned serious. Christopher Dean mentioned the kiss in a previous interview, describing it as a casual moment during a team trip. He said, "We were kids. It was before we were skating partners." Jayne laughed, recalling that the kiss happened a long time before they became a professional duo. They explained that they never considered a romantic relationship as adults. Jayne pointed out that seeing other skating couples marry and then break up made them cautious. She stated, "Having a relationship just didn’t occur to us—we were more interested in skating, that was our passion." Both skaters went on to have separate relationships. Jayne married Phil Christensen in 1990 and adopted two children after challenges with IVF. Christopher was married twice before and has been with Karen Barber for the past 14 years, living in West Yorkshire. Despite their separate lives, Jayne and Christopher remain very close. Jayne's husband Phil took some time to understand their bond. She revealed, "At first Phil was like, 'Do you really have to spend all that time together all day?'" Now, after over 30 years, he understands. The duo confirmed they don’t take holidays together but talk almost daily about minor things. Both are grateful their strong friendship has lasted beyond their skating careers.
