Tory whip urges party to abandon Thatcher fixation
A Conservative Party whip, Katie Lam, has urged the party to move away from its focus on Margaret Thatcher. She acknowledged Thatcher's insights but stated that her ideas do not serve the party's needs in 2025. Lam's comments follow Tory leader Kemi Badenoch's criticism of Thatcher for not supporting mining communities after industry closures. Badenoch emphasized the importance of planning for community regeneration in such situations. The Conservative Party is currently rebuilding after a significant loss in the last general election, where they were reduced to 121 seats. They are also facing competition from the rising Reform UK party.
