Towson woman charged after hitting police vehicle on I-695

A Towson woman was arrested after hitting a Maryland State Police car on the Baltimore Beltway. Harriet Penniman Van Kleeck, 63, is facing charges for suspected impaired driving and other traffic violations. The incident happened on Friday night, March 14, just before 11:30 p.m. Maryland State Police responded to a crash involving a trooper on the inner loop of I-695. Officials say the trooper was in her marked patrol vehicle, which had its emergency lights on, after completing a traffic stop. Van Kleeck allegedly cut across two lanes and collided with the patrol car. The trooper was injured and taken to Shock Trauma but has since been released. Van Kleeck is currently at the Baltimore County Detention Center. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
