Toyota plans to revive the Celica sports car, last sold in the U.S. in 2005, with a new model expected in 2027. This was confirmed by executive Yuki Nakajima during a recent event in Japan. The Celica's return follows years of speculation and interest from former CEO Akio Toyoda and current president Tsuneji Sato. The company has been focusing on bringing back iconic models, similar to the recent revival of the Supra. The Celica was first introduced in 1970 and became known for its affordability and sporty design. A prototype of the new model may be showcased at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
