Toyota launches portable hydrogen cartridges for electric vehicles at Japan Mobility Show
Toyota has introduced portable hydrogen cartridges for electric vehicles at the Japan Mobility Show Bizweek 2024. These cartridges, resembling oversized batteries, can be easily swapped out when depleted, offering a new way to power hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The new design reduces the size and weight of hydrogen tanks, making them more manageable. This could encourage more manufacturers to explore hydrogen vehicles, as the cartridges are similar in size to popular Bluetooth speakers. Toyota is also exploring applications for these cartridges beyond vehicles, including home energy and cooking. The company plans to collaborate with various businesses to promote the use of portable hydrogen technology.
