Toyota retains title as best-selling car company for 2024

Toyota has been named the best-selling car company for 2024, marking its fifth consecutive year in this position. Through November, Toyota sold nearly 9.86 million vehicles globally, including its Lexus, Daihatsu, and Hino brands. Volkswagen Group reported a 2.3% decline in sales, totaling 9.24 million vehicles. Toyota's lead over Volkswagen stands at 618,438 vehicles, even with a 3.6% drop in its own sales compared to 2023. Hyundai Motor Group is expected to finish third, with 7.23 million sales, a 1% decrease from the previous year. Despite a wider range of electric and hybrid options, Volkswagen could not surpass Toyota's diverse lineup of combustion-engine vehicles.
