Tradie linked to crime boss shot in Melbourne ambush
A man linked to the late crime boss Sam 'The Punisher' Abdulrahim was shot in a shocking daylight attack in Melbourne. Detectives released CCTV footage on Monday to help identify the gunman, who was seen wearing a hoodie and is described as having an African appearance. The victim, a 49-year-old tradesman, was shot in the ankle while attending a job in Fawkner on October 3, 2024. The attack is believed to be a warning shot, but police have not confirmed if it is linked to Abdulrahim's criminal activities. Abdulrahim was killed in January during a gang dispute over tobacco trade in the city. Detective Inspector Adam Tilley stated that while the victim knew Abdulrahim, there is no information suggesting a connection to the shooting. The police are seeking information and any leads on the getaway car, a white 2018 Mercedes Benz GLC43 with fake license plates. The gunman approached the victim closely, but police believe he did not intend to kill. Although the victim has spoken to police, he has provided limited cooperation in the investigation. Authorities hope the public can assist in identifying the shooter or the car involved.
