Traffic violations surged during Holi in Chandigarh tricity
Traffic violations increased significantly during Holi celebrations in Chandigarh, with police issuing 4,314 fines and impounding 233 vehicles. This marks a rise from previous years, with 1,367 fines issued in Chandigarh alone. Chandigarh police reported 1,096 emergency calls, up from 446 last year. Of these, 483 incidents required police, fire, or medical assistance. Traffic accidents remained stable, with 35 cases this year compared to 36 last year. In Mohali, police issued 2,927 fines and impounded 79 vehicles. Panchkula police set up checkpoints, issuing 20 fines for various traffic violations. Police also used mild force to disperse crowds at Sukhna Lake.
