Trailer released for political thriller about Anna Politkovskaya
The first trailer for the political thriller "Words of War" has been released. The film tells the story of Anna Politkovskaya, a Russian-American journalist who was murdered for exposing the truth about political corruption and violence in Russia. The film stars Maxine Peake, Ciarán Hinds, and Jason Isaacs. It is executive-produced by Sean Penn and will be released in the U.S. on May 2. Other international releases are planned in the UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Middle East. Anna Politkovskaya was known for her brave reporting during the Second Chechen War in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She faced threats and violence but continued to speak out against government abuses. In 2006, she was assassinated, a crime that shocked the world and highlighted issues of press freedom. The movie is directed by James Strong and written by Eric Poppen. Concourse Media is handling international sales. Despite some challenges during production, including concerns from Politkovskaya’s family, the film is now ready for its debut.
