Trent Alexander-Arnold can't wear number 66 at Madrid
Trent Alexander-Arnold is close to joining Real Madrid but won't be able to wear the number 66 shirt. This is due to a La Liga rule that restricts players to numbers 1-25. The Liverpool defender has worn number 66 since his debut in 2016. He has agreed to leave Liverpool at the end of the season after growing up as a fan and player for the squad. Although he has worn other numbers internationally, he must choose a different number at Real Madrid. According to La Liga rules, each team can only register 25 players, and each player must have a number within that range. Numbers above 25 can only be worn by youth players who are not on the official squad list. At Real Madrid, only three numbers are available for Alexander-Arnold: 12, 24, and 25. The number 12 is often left free to honor fans, so it may not be available. Numbers 24 and 25 are more likely options, with 24 being the most probable choice. Currently, the number 2 is worn by club captain Dani Carvajal, and number 10, worn by Luka Modric, is not available as Modric plans to stay at the club. Alexander-Arnold will need to pick a new number that fits within La Liga's guidelines.
