Tropical storm chances rise for three systems in the Atlantic
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring three systems in the Atlantic that may develop into tropical storms. A system in the north Atlantic has seen its chances of strengthening rise to 40 percent, up from 10 percent earlier. Two additional systems in the Caribbean are also being watched. One in the southwestern Caribbean has a 30 percent chance of forming into Tropical Storm Patty in the next two days, increasing to 70 percent within a week. The system in the northeast Caribbean is less likely to develop due to high wind shear. However, it may bring heavy rain to areas from the northern Leeward Islands to eastern Cuba. All three systems could potentially form into tropical storms this weekend or early next week.
