Tropical storm may form and move into Gulf of Mexico as hurricane
A new storm, Potential Tropical Cyclone No. 18, is expected to develop into a tropical storm and possibly a hurricane as it moves from the Caribbean Sea into the Gulf of Mexico. It is currently located 220 miles south of Jamaica. Hurricane warnings have been issued for the Cayman Islands, with the storm anticipated to reach the western tip of Cuba by Thursday. It is then expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico. While Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are within the forecast area, it is too early to predict the storm's impact on the U.S. The hurricane season continues through November, with the next named storm being Rafael.
