Tropical Storm Nika intensifies to severe storm, may reach typhoon status today
Tropical Storm Nika has intensified into a severe tropical storm and may become a typhoon today, according to the Philippine weather bureau. It is currently located 690 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, with winds of 100 kilometers per hour. Nika is moving north-northwest at 30 kilometers per hour. Several areas remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 1, including parts of Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora. The highest possible wind signal is TCWS No. 4. Nika is expected to make landfall in Isabela or Aurora on Monday afternoon, November 11.
