Tropical Storm Ofel strengthens as Severe Tropical Storm Nika exits Philippines
Tropical Storm Ofel (Usagi) has strengthened, with maximum sustained winds increasing to 85 km/h as of November 12. It is moving northwest at 35 km/h and could make landfall in Northern or Central Luzon by Thursday. Severe Tropical Storm Nika (Toraji) is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility later today. Nika has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h and is moving northwest at 10 km/h. It was downgraded after making landfall in Aurora on November 11. Areas in Northern Luzon may experience heavy rainfall and strong winds from Ofel, with Signal No. 1 possibly raised for parts of Cagayan Valley. Meanwhile, Nika has left some areas under Signal No. 1 due to residual strong winds.
