Tropical Storm Sara and Super Typhoon Man-yi cause severe flooding in Central America and the Philippines
Tropical Storm Sara formed in the Caribbean on Thursday, impacting Central America with heavy rain, flooding, and landslides in Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Belize, and Guatemala. The storm has weakened from 45 mph to 40 mph and is expected to dissipate soon. Super Typhoon Man-yi made landfall in the Philippines on Saturday, causing severe damage with over 130 mm of rain and significant flooding. The typhoon, with winds over 120 mph, is moving towards China and may bring additional rainfall to coastal cities. In the U.S., Louisiana has faced heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding. Rainfall totals could exceed 100 mm in Alabama and southern Mississippi, with Louisiana expecting nearly 80 mm. This weather is linked to a low-pressure system causing temperature contrasts.
