Trump and Musk meet N.J. GOP candidate Ciattarelli
Jack Ciattarelli, a Republican candidate for governor in New Jersey, met with former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk at Trump's Bedminster golf club on Friday night. This meeting has sparked interest as Ciattarelli seeks Trump's endorsement in his campaign. Ciattarelli is currently the leading candidate among Republicans, but support from Trump could significantly boost his closest competitor, Bill Spadea. Trump’s endorsement is viewed as crucial for candidates in the competitive GOP primary. During the meeting, the topics discussed were not disclosed. Afterward, Ciattarelli shared a post on social media expressing his honor to spend time with Trump. His campaign spokesperson did not comment on the meeting. Trump's visit comes during a fundraising event for a super PAC that supports Ciattarelli. The PAC was co-founded by Kellyanne Conway, a former Trump adviser. Although Ciattarelli leads in polls, his position could change quickly if Trump supports another candidate. Spadea, a former radio host, has been actively seeking Trump's endorsement as well. He has made critical comments about Trump in the past, labeling Trump’s first term a “failure.” Both candidates have since walked back their past remarks against Trump. The primary battle for endorsements is intensifying as other GOP candidates, including state Sen. Jon Bramnick and former state Sen. Ed Durr, also seek Trump's support. Meanwhile, Democratic candidates are attacking both Trump and Musk, with Rep. Mikie Sherrill calling for an investigation into Musk's business interests. The race continues to heat up as candidates maneuver for favor in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive election season.
