Trump builds winning coalition in 2024 election with gains among youth and minority voters
Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election by maintaining his core support among white, older, and non-college-educated voters while also gaining ground with younger voters and Black and Hispanic men. This shift helped him increase his overall coalition compared to 2020. Trump's share of the youth vote rose significantly, with nearly half of voters aged 18 to 29 supporting him, up from 36% in 2020. He also strengthened his appeal among non-college-educated voters, winning 55% of this group, a notable increase from the previous election. While Trump’s base remained predominantly white, he made small gains with Black and Latino voters. Support for Harris among Black voters decreased slightly, and she lost some ground with Hispanic voters, particularly among younger men.
