Trump cuts over $1 billion in New York food aid
Funding for food aid programs in New York has been cut by over $1 billion. This includes significant reductions to the Local Food for Schools program, which helps schools and food banks purchase food from local farmers. The Department of Agriculture has eliminated approximately $660 million for 2025, impacting support for local farmers and children's access to fresh food. Additionally, $420 million for the Local Food Purchase Assistance program has also been withdrawn. These cuts affect both farmers and families, as they reduce resources for providing food to children and underserved communities.
