Trump nominates controversial figures for administration as predictions of confirmation emerge
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated five controversial figures for his administration: Matt Gaetz, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Kristi Noem, and Pete Hegseth. Political commentator Mark Halperin predicts all will be confirmed despite their problematic backgrounds. Republicans hold a majority in the Senate, which may facilitate the confirmation process. Halperin noted that while Gaetz and Kennedy are likely to face significant scrutiny, the other three nominees could also present challenges. Each nominee requires at least 50 votes for confirmation, with Vice President JD Vance able to break ties. The Senate will also consider other candidates, including Marco Rubio for Secretary of State.
