Trump renews call to buy Greenland after comments on Canada and Panama Canal
Donald Trump has renewed his calls for the U.S. to buy Greenland from Denmark, emphasizing its importance for national security. This follows previous suggestions about Canada becoming a U.S. state and reclaiming the Panama Canal. Trump's comments come as he named his ambassador to Denmark. Greenland's leader, Múte Bourup Egede, stated that the island is not for sale and emphasized its autonomy gained in 1979. In addition, Trump criticized rising shipping costs at the Panama Canal, claiming the U.S. is being "ripped off." Panama's president responded, asserting that the canal belongs to Panama, while Trump hinted at a potential U.S. claim.
