Trump selects fossil fuel executive Chris Wright as energy secretary
President-elect Donald Trump has selected Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy, as his choice for Secretary of Energy. Wright is a strong supporter of oil and gas development, including fracking. Wright will also join the newly-formed Council of National Energy, which aims to streamline energy production and regulation across various sectors. This council will focus on enhancing private sector investments and innovation. Wright, who holds degrees from MIT and UC Berkeley, must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Trump also announced William Owen Scharf as Assistant to the President and White House Staff Secretary.
