Trust to build 14 homes for Koraga families
The Heggunje Rajeeva Shetty Charitable Trust will build 14 houses for Koraga families in Ullur, Kundapur. The project will cost about Rs 2.5 crore and starts with a ceremony on April 7. The houses are expected to be finished by the end of this year. This initiative is part of a larger goal to construct 100 homes for the Koraga community. This group is known to face significant social and economic challenges. Last year, the trust completed 14 houses at a cost of around Rs 2 crore, which were officially opened by minister KH Muniyappa. The project began with support from Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha Swamiji of Udupi Pejawar Mutt. He encouraged efforts to aid the underprivileged. HS Shetty, the trust president, promises to continue this housing project and hopes to complete it in the next four years. The trust has a history of supporting those in need. They have built homes for Yakshagana artists and helped improve government schools. In addition, they started online coaching and counseling programs in collaboration with Vidya Shakti and the education department in Udupi. This program has already helped 20 government high schools, with plans to expand to 150 more in the coming year.
