TSA stops ammunition smuggling attempt at Newark Airport

TSA officers stopped a smuggling attempt at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday. They discovered ammunition hidden in a traveler's carry-on bag. The incident happened at a security checkpoint on March 18. A routine X-ray scan of the bag set off an alarm. A TSA officer then inspected the bag further. Inside, they found an aluminum foil box. Upon closer examination, they uncovered 16 bullets. Each bullet was individually wrapped in foil. The TSA is focused on keeping airports safe and will continue to check for prohibited items.
