Tube drivers invited to vote on four-day work week

Tube drivers are being urged to vote on a proposal for a four-day work week, part of a modernization effort by Transport for London. The union Aslef describes the offer as a significant change, allowing drivers to condense their hours. Ballot papers will be sent to Aslef members starting Tuesday, with voting closing on April 10. The proposal includes paid meal breaks and aims to improve work-life balance while addressing staffing issues that have caused delays. If approved, the new schedule would reduce the average working week from 38.5 hours to 34 hours. The offer is currently exclusive to Tube drivers, with salaries and pensions remaining unchanged.
