Tulare proposes entertainment district to attract big businesses
Tulare, California, is considering a new entertainment district that could attract major businesses like hotels and retailers. City officials are inspired by similar projects in other cities, such as the Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca. City Manager Marc Mondell explained that a consultant was hired to study potential entertainment districts. He mentioned that such places usually include popular attractions like golf centers and large retailers, benefiting nearby communities. Tulare's location is ideal for this project, with easy access to Highway 99. There is also plenty of land available near the Cartmill Interchange and the new International Agri-Center Way Interchange. Mondell believes that Tulare's central location, without much competition, makes it a unique market. The proposed 125-acre development could create thousands of jobs and generate over two million dollars in annual revenue. Donnette Silva Carter, President of the Tulare Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the positive impact this revenue could have as it circulates within the community, helping local businesses thrive. Freddie Gonzalez, the General Manager of Galaxy Theaters at the Tulare Outlets, sees great potential in the entertainment district for boosting local revenue and employment. Gonzalez believes this development could strengthen the economy for years to come, benefiting families in the area. A key part of the proposal includes an indoor sports recreation facility that could host large tournaments, attracting more visitors to Tulare. Local leaders are excited about the possibilities and will continue to seek interest from major businesses.
