Tulum security chief killed in drive-by shooting
The security chief at a popular resort in Tulum, Mexico, was shot dead in a drive-by attack. The shooting happened on Friday night, according to officials from Quintana Roo state. José Roberto Rodríguez was targeted by gunmen on a motorbike who opened fire on him and his bodyguard. During the incident, one of the attackers was also killed in a shootout. Reports indicate that Rodríguez was struck by six bullets and later died in the hospital. Tulum, along with the nearby city of Cancún, is a major tourist destination. The area, known for its beaches, has generally been safe, but it has experienced violence in recent years.
