Turkey monitors Syrian-Kurdish deal for security concerns
Turkey's foreign minister, Hakan Fidan, announced that Turkey is closely monitoring a new agreement between the Syrian government and the U.S.-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This follows recent clashes in Syria. Fidan expressed concerns about potential security threats to Turkey from the deal. He stated that Turkey had communicated its worries to Syrian officials during a visit to Damascus. The agreement aims to integrate the SDF into the Syrian army. Fidan noted that the Syrian interim president assured him the deal aligns with Turkish interests, emphasizing Turkey's vigilance in the situation.
