TV ratings for Players Championship final rise in 2025
The final round of The Players Championship saw an increase in television ratings compared to last year. About 3.6 million viewers watched the final round on NBC, up from 3.5 million in 2024. Rory McIlroy was leading but finished tied at 12-under par with J.J. Spaun. They concluded the tournament with a playoff on Monday after a weather delay on Sunday. The event faced a significant delay due to storms in Northeast Florida. Players had to leave the course at around 1:15 p.m. ET and could not return until 5:15 p.m. ET. Despite the delay, the peak viewership reached 6.2 million, slightly higher than the 6 million viewers from 2024. The PGA Tour adjusted the schedule by moving tee times to the morning and sending players out in groups of three. This strategy helped minimize the impact of the weather. With McIlroy at the top of the leaderboard, ratings were strong, continuing a positive trend for the PGA Tour in 2025.
