Two arrested for ₹22 lakh foreign liquor in Basheerbagh

The Excise enforcement team has arrested two men for smuggling foreign liquor in Hyderabad. They seized 233 bottles of liquor with a total value of ₹22 lakh from a warehouse near Basheerbagh. The seized liquor amounts to 174.5 liters, worth ₹9,68,150 based on local prices. Along with the liquor, authorities took a car, ₹35,000 in cash, and two mobile phones from the suspects. The accused are Harish Kumar Hirwani and Williams Joseph. Investigators found that Hirwani, a former liquor trader, had been illegally importing and selling foreign liquor from his storage facility for over 14 months. He made profits of ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 per bottle. The raid followed tips received by the Hyderabad Excise Enforcement Team. Authorities have also filed cases against three liquor traders based in Delhi: Deepak, Dharmabatti, and Sunil.
