Two arrested for robbing retired professor in Ashok Vihar
Police have arrested two men for robbing the home of a retired Delhi University professor in Ashok Vihar, north-west Delhi. The suspects are 32-year-old Suraj, also known as Akhil, and 29-year-old Sachin, both from Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. On Monday, a group of armed robbers entered the professor's home, tied up the victims, and threatened them with guns. They stole gold and silver jewelry, cash, mobile phones, and even the professor's car. After the robbery, the thieves abandoned the stolen vehicle near Wazirpur in north Delhi and took a cab to escape. CCTV footage from the crime scene helped police identify Suraj and Sachin. Suraj was arrested in Ghaziabad while Sachin was caught in Gautam Budh Nagar. Authorities believe the robbery was planned with help from Sachin’s girlfriend, who worked as a domestic helper at the professor's home. She allegedly provided details about the valuables and assisted in the robbery. Suraj has a long criminal history with 17 cases against him, including robbery and attempted murder. Sachin has 14 cases registered. Police have recovered several stolen items, including a gold chain and silver coins, and have seized the stolen car. Both suspects have been charged under various sections of the law. Investigations are still ongoing.
