Two cab drivers arrested for murder in Delhi
Police in Delhi have arrested two cab drivers for the alleged abduction and murder of a 22-year-old woman. The victim's body was found in a drain on March 17, about five days after it was dumped. The woman, a call center employee, was last seen leaving work on March 12. She was picked up by the drivers, Asif Khan, 26, and Mohammad Zuber, 27. Police say there was a fight inside the car, leading Khan to strangle her out of jealousy. Khan was reportedly angry because he believed she was speaking with another man. After the crime, the suspects drove the body about 45 kilometers to Chhawla in southwest Delhi and disposed of it in the Najafgarh drain. The woman's family reported her missing after she did not return home that evening. Concern grew when her phone went off, prompting them to contact her workplace. Investigation efforts quickly pointed to Khan, based on call records that showed he had been with her the night she disappeared. During questioning, he confessed to the murder and directed police to the location of the body. Police later arrested Zuber after discovering he had assisted Khan in disposing of the body. They are still trying to determine if he played a role in the murder itself. The investigation is ongoing, and details about the possibility of sexual assault are being examined.
