Two children die from contaminated Iftar food in Chilas
Two children have died and six others are in the hospital after eating contaminated food during Iftar in Chilas, Gilgit Baltistan. The incident happened on Monday night, according to local officials. The family, living in the Tharli area, fainted after their meal. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Shaukat Riaz reported that all eight family members lost consciousness and were rushed to the local hospital. Ten-year-old Imtiaz Ali died that night, followed by three-year-old Atia Bibi the next morning. The remaining six family members are currently receiving medical treatment. Raja Ishfaq Tahir, a spokesman for the Diamer district administration, mentioned that the exact cause of the contamination in the food is still unknown. A police investigation is ongoing to determine the details. The hospitalized individuals include Gulab Shah, Nakir, Gul Sherin, Nahida, six-year-old Nazia, and three-year-old Nasir.
