Two found dead in suspected murder-suicide in Akron

An Elyria woman and an Akron man were found dead in what is believed to be a murder-suicide in Akron, Ohio. The victims have been identified as Jessica Leigh Violand, 44, and Elliot Hareem Altesa, 26. Both bodies were discovered in a bedroom at a residence on South Highland Avenue late Monday night. Police were called to the scene after a concerned individual reported that Violand had not been in touch for several hours. According to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Violand died from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators believe Altesa shot Violand before turning the gun on himself.
