Two jailed for Babbar Khalsa International links in Mohali
A court in Mohali has convicted two individuals for their involvement with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a group linked to anti-national activities. Lakhbir Singh, from Hoshiarpur, and Surinder Kaur, also known as Sukhpreet Kaur, from Faridkot, received prison sentences. Lakhbir Singh was sentenced to two years in jail and fined Rs 2,000 for unlawful activities. He received an additional five-year sentence and a fine of Rs 5,000 for other offenses under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Surinder Kaur was given a five-year prison term and a fine of Rs 5,000. Surinder Singh was acquitted due to a lack of evidence against him. Authorities said Lakhbir Singh, who had been living in Dubai, had connections to a UK-based BKI member. He was sent to Punjab to carry out illegal activities and was in contact with Surinder Kaur. The case was investigated by the SSOC police station in Mohali.
