Two students from JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) in Mysuru have landed impressive job offers of ₹45 lakh per year. This is the highest salary reported for this placement season, despite a market slowdown. The university officials noted that the lowest package this year was around ₹8 lakh annually. The Vice-Chancellor, A.N. Santosh Kumar, addressed concerns about job losses due to artificial intelligence (AI). He explained that AI is a growing field, with new tools being developed frequently. Kumar emphasized that the university is preparing students for these changes. To boost AI skills, JSS STU has created a modern AI lab and plans to introduce a new Bachelor of Engineering program focused on AI and Machine Learning next year. This year's campus placements have seen improvements, with 80% of students securing jobs, up from 70% last year. However, Kumar pointed out a change in hiring practices. Many companies are now choosing long-term internships instead of immediate job offers. Currently, around 200 students are participating in 11-month internships, which is becoming more common. Most job placements this year have been in product-based companies, where students are excelling. JSS STU continues to focus on providing students with industry-relevant skills to adapt to changing market needs, aiming to improve its placement statistics despite economic challenges.
