Two men arrested for Kandhamal teen's murder

Two men have been arrested in connection with the abduction, rape, and murder of a 16-year-old girl from Kandhamal, Odisha. The arrests occurred on Tuesday in a village in Nayagarh district. The girl, a Plus II student, was reported missing on February 27. Her family filed a missing person's report on March 3 after unsuccessful attempts to find her. Police discovered skeletal remains in a Ganjam forest on March 22, which were later identified as belonging to the girl. Investigators revealed that the two suspects, aged 22 and 23, are from Kandhamal district. They allegedly kidnapped the girl while she was returning from tuition, took her to a remote area, and assaulted her. The suspects reportedly stabbed her to death when she resisted their advances. To destroy evidence, the men poured petrol on her body and set it on fire. Police have recovered a car and a knife believed to have been used in the crime. The investigation continues as authorities work to gather more evidence.
