Two men escape ICE detention in Aurora, Colorado
Two men have escaped from the ICE detention facility in Aurora, Colorado, on Tuesday. Officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed their escape. The first man, Geilond Vido-Romero, is 24 years old. He was arrested by ICE on February 26 after they found him at a jail in Castle Rock. He was waiting to be deported to Venezuela. The second man, Joel Jose Gonzalez-Gonzalez, is 32 years old and was arrested on February 12 after an encounter at the Adams County Jail. He was awaiting immigration proceedings at the time of his escape. Details about why the men were originally arrested are not clear, and there are no pending court cases against them, according to public records. Local authorities were informed about their escape, but they decided not to assist in the search for the men. On the same day as the escape, over 100 people protested outside the facility. They were voicing their support for immigration activist Jeanette Vizguerra, who had recently been detained by ICE. As of now, Vido-Romero and Gonzalez-Gonzalez are still at large, and ICE is continuing its search for them.
