Two men indicted for Phoenix gas station murder
Two men from Phoenix have been charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder. This follows the shooting of a gas station customer in February. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced the indictments on Monday. The suspects, Isaac Lechuga and Arturo Vazquez-Rodriguez, were both 19 at the time of the crime. They allegedly robbed a person at gunpoint at a QuikTrip gas station early on February 21. One suspect watched from a truck while the other committed the robbery. After the robbery, the two drove to another QuikTrip where they shot 55-year-old Naul Hernandez as he was pumping gas. Authorities have labeled this incident as a "botched robbery." Police used surveillance footage to identify the truck involved in the crime. They arrested Lechuga and Vazquez-Rodriguez on the same day. A court document shows they were charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. Currently, Vazquez-Rodriguez is held on a $1 million cash bond, while Lechuga has a $1 million secured appearance bond. Their trial is set for October 30, but it may be delayed because homicide cases can be complicated.
