Two men sentenced to life for friend's murder
A city court in Gurugram has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the murder of their friend during a drunken party in 2019. The incident happened on July 4 in an office located in Sector 18 after a small argument escalated. The convicts, Manoj Shukla, 30, and Sahil Mehta, 26, were found guilty of murder and also fined ₹ 25,000 each. The court's decision was announced by additional district and session judge Sunil Chauhan. Shukla is from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, while Mehta is from Delhi. The victim, Lokesh Sharma, 31, owned a placement office in the same area. After a dispute with Shukla and Mehta, he was attacked. The assailants slammed his head on the floor and hit him with a table before fleeing the scene. The police received a complaint from Sharma's brother, which led to an investigation. CCTV footage and forensic evidence confirmed the presence of Shukla and Mehta at the crime scene. They were arrested on July 6, just days after the murder.
