Two men survived lying on railway tracks in Aluva
Two men had a lucky escape after lying on a railway track between Aluva and Angamaly on March 15. They were reportedly inebriated when the incident occurred. The speeding Shalimar Express train was traveling to Thrissur when its driver, Anwar Husain, spotted them and quickly applied the emergency brakes. The driver noticed the men about ten minutes after the train left Aluva station. One man was lying down, while the other was sitting close to the track. The train was just 100 meters away when the driver acted. It screeched to a stop, passing over the two as they remained crouched beneath the engine. Both men emerged unharmed, surprised by their close call. Following the incident, the Railway Police registered a case against them for causing a danger on the tracks. The two men, Anandan and Arun Shinde, are laborers from Maharashtra and were moved to a safer location by the train crew.
