Two metro corridors planned for Gurgaon, Haryana

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Gurgaon is set to receive two new metro lines to connect different parts of the city. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) announced that construction work will begin soon. On March 20, HMRTC invited tenders to prepare detailed project reports for the two new corridors. The first line will be 17 kilometers long, running from Bhondsi to the Gurgaon Railway Station. This route aims to reduce traffic on Sohna Road and NH-8, passing through several key junctions like Vatika Chowk and Rajiv Chowk. This line will connect with the upcoming Millennium City Centre-Cyber City metro line at Subhash Chowk. It will also allow transfers to a new rapid rail corridor at Rajiv Chowk. The second proposed line will be 13.6 kilometers long, linking Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5. It will connect important areas including Hong Kong Market and Signature Tower with residential zones in Old Gurgaon. The Millennium City Centre station will link this new line to the yellow line of the Delhi Metro and the Cyber City corridor. This integration is expected to help many commuters traveling to new sectors. An HMRTC official stated that these metro lines will enhance regional connectivity and provide convenient access to transit hubs. The project was initially discussed last August but faced delays due to election codes. Now that the elections are over, work on the project can continue.
