Two ordnance factory employees arrested for leaking secrets
Two employees from ordnance factories in Uttar Pradesh have been arrested for sharing confidential information with Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI. The arrests happened after they fell victim to fake Facebook profiles designed to trick them. According to senior officials from the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), the two arrested staffers were identified as Vikas Kumar, 38, from Kanpur, and Ravindra Kumar, 45, from Firozabad. They are accused of leaking sensitive information in exchange for money after being targeted by a fake profile named Neha Sharma. Following these arrests, security agencies are now monitoring more individuals. They are focusing on the social media profiles of employees at various defense-related facilities to prevent further information leaks. Nine other staffers are currently under scrutiny due to suspicious friends on their social media accounts. Officials mentioned that similar tactics have been used for several years by ISI operatives. These operatives create fake profiles with attractive names and pictures to lure officials from various sectors, including the army and police. After contact is established, spyware may be secretly installed on their devices to steal sensitive information for blackmail. Authorities warn that personnel should be cautious about adding unknown profiles online and should advise family and friends to remove any suspicious accounts.
