Two schoolboys drowned in Haryana's Western Yamuna Canal
Two schoolboys drowned in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, following a Rs 100 bet to swim across the Western Yamuna Canal. The tragic event occurred on Friday after a group of students finished their final exams. Lucky and Krishna, both unable to swim, decided to challenge each other. They did not realize the dangers of the canal’s strong current. After they jumped in, they quickly struggled to stay afloat and were swept away. Their classmates witnessed the incident and called for help. Local residents and police responded promptly, launching a search operation. Divers were brought in, but the boys remained missing. Police officer Rajesh Kumar confirmed that search efforts were ongoing. They also collected the boys' personal items from the canal bank and informed their families about the incident. The other 15 students who were with them were interviewed by the police to provide details about the events leading to the drowning.
